Team Abu Dhabi's Ahmed Al Hameli will fill in for the injured Rashid Al Tayer in this weekend's Italian Grand Prix, round three of the UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship.
Al Tayer had an accident during a jet ski race in the United States and, although he is fine after the incident, team management have decided to replace him with Al Hameli.
It is a step up in class for the Emirati, who is the fastest driver currently taking part in the UIM F1 H20 World Championship.
Al Hameli won the Grand Prix of Ukraine in July. He followed up that success with a second-placed finish in China, which was won by fellow Team Abu Dhabi pilot Thani Al Qamzi.
Al Hameli will team up with Majed Al Mansoori in Team Abu Dhabi's Class 1 No 5 boat on Lake Como in Italy this weekend.
The weekend's schedule begins with official practice on Friday. A second practice session and official qualifying starts on Saturday morning. Race one will take place at 2.30pm (4.30pm UAE) on Saturday afternoon.
Crews will then be permitted a final practice on Sunday morning and the second grand prix race will be staged at 2.30pm.
