In his weekly Premier League comment, Richard Jolly writes that there were essentially two sides to the English defender's career – he was admired and respected for his talent and success on the pitch but just as loathed for his personality and controversies he was involved in.
Sadly for him and his fans, the outgoing Chelsea captain, 36, had to bid adieu after being shown a red card for fouling Wahbi Khazri at the Stadium of Light.
