For the first time in baseball history, a game ended on an overturned call on Sunday. After checking a video replay, umpires awarded Atlanta's Brian McCann a ninth-inning walk-off home run that gave the Braves a 7-6 victory over the Florida Marlins. The ball bounced off the top of the outfield wall and struck a second barrier before bouncing back on the field - a clear home run. It took just 86 seconds for Tim McClelland, the umpire crew chief, to make the call.
Meanwhile Japan won the Little League World Series, beating the US team from Hawaii 4-1. Japan limited Hawaii to four singles, and got a home run and three RBI from Konan Tomori to end the United States' run of five straight titles. Ryusuke Ikeda got the win, striking out five and allowing four hits in three innings. Ichiro Ogasawara pitched the final three innings to get the save, striking out three.
