Lack of goals not a problem for Mourinho

Jose Mourinho admits that his talent pool of Inter Milan strikers, so lethal in Serie A, are struggling in front of goal in the Champions League. But the Portuguese manager is still confident his side will top their group. Fans that turned up to the San Siro had hoped to see a goal festival following Inter's 4-0 triumph at Roma last weekend, but a first-half strike from Adriano was all they managed in a narrow win over debut boys Anorthosis Famagusta.

"A goal is sufficient to take three points," Mourinho said. "Inter have scored one but I disagree that we struggle to create goal-scoring chances. "Our problem is in front of goal, where we don't make the most of our chances," he added. "But what really matters is that we are one step away from qualifying. We want to finish first in our group." Elswhere, Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc was thrilled to see his side get their campaign up and running with a 1-0 win over the competition's surprise package CFR Cluj.

The victory sees Bordeaux take their first points in the competition although they still remain bottom of Group A, level on points with Roma. "Bordeaux deserved their victory," said Blanc. "I am very happy with the team's performance tonight. "For the first time in the Champions League we didn't concede a goal, that makes life a lot easier." Marseille president Pape Diouf slammed his side after their 2-0 loss at PSV Eindhoven, which left them bottom of Group D without a point to their name.

"I'm deeply disappointed," Diouf told L'Equipe. "I have the impression that OM were playing in the third division. We were clearly sent home to think again. "The disagreeable impression I felt was that we were at Laval [a French club side], but it was the Champions League and that demanded a huge focus, an effort from everyone. I absolutely didn't recognise the team. Except for a decent opening period, we were outside the game."
