DUBAI // Al Nasr missed the chance to jump above Al Ain into fifth place in the Arabian Gulf League table after a tepid home draw against Emirates on Saturday night.

The visitors had the best chance of the first half, when Wanderley Sousa was played through on goal, but the Brazilian saw his shot pushed around the post by Nasr goalkeeper Ahmad Shambeih.

In a game of few clear-cut chances, Ibrahma Toure, Nasr’s Senegalese forward, was presented with a golden opportunity to win it in the dying moments.

His header from Humaid Ahmed’s cross, though, drifted wide of the post and Nasr had to settle for a share of the spoils.

The result means Ivan Jovanovic’s side have only one win from their last five matches, which has resulted in them falling way off the title pace.

They are sixth, level on 27 points with Al Ain, and 12 behind leaders Al Ahli having played a game more. For Emirates, it could prove a valuable point as they moved six points clear of the relegation zone.
