DUBAI, UAE // James Anderson, England’s leading one-day international wicket taker, has joined the list of star names taking part in the Emirates Airline Twenty20 on Friday at The Sevens in Dubai.
Now recovered from a rib injury sustained in the recent Ashes series in Australia, the right-arm fast medium bowler will be part of the Lancashire Lightning side as they battle it out against the MCC, Sussex and the Kerala Premier League X1 for the Emirates Airline Twenty20 trophy.
Other big names in action on Friday will be Muttiah Muralitharan, Monty Panesar and Prasanna Jayawardene, who are lining up for the MCC, and Matt Prior and Michael Yardy in the Sussex side.
Led by captain Glen Chapple, the Lancashire side will meet the defending champions Sussex in the first semi-final of the Emirates Airline Twenty20, at 10.30am. Sussex will be aiming for a hat trick of trophies, but will have to overcome a determined Lancashire first, and with Anderson returning to form he could provide a major obstacle.
The second semi-final will be between MCC and the newcomers to the Trophy, the Dubai based Kerala Premier League X1 at 2pm. The final commences at 6pm.
Tickets to the Emirates Airline Twenty20 on March 21 are just Dh25 with children under 12 gaining free admission provided they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. Premium shaded seating is also available for 100dhs, limited tickets still available. Tickets can be purchased at the gate at The Sevens ground which is located on the Dubai - Al Ain Road, just beyond Exit 29/30.
Seating is on grass banks so fans are encouraged to bring blankets and umbrellas and sunscreen, and enjoy a great day out. The family off-pitch entertainment includes a circus workshop for children, and food and beverage outlets will cater for all visitors.
A free AVIS shuttle bus service will operate from the Lulu Centre in Karama, the Old Grand City Mall carpark in Al Quoz and the Lulu Hypermarket Al Qusais to and from The Sevens Cricket Ground. The first buses will leave at 9.00am and run every forty five minutes until 9.00pm.
