The best Under 17 basketball teams from countries like the United States, Philippines, Australia, Canada, Japan, Italy, China, Egypt and the UAE tipped off the Fiba Under 17 World Championship in Dubai on Friday.

In basketball, height really does matter as Jonathan Raymond reports the UAE learnt this lesson on Friday night at Al Ahli Arena in their 121-32 loss to Italy in their opening game at the 2014 Fiba Under 17 World Championship.

The top teams from around the world tipped off the world championship in Dubai on Friday and the action will play out over the next two weeks.
