Edward Sadomba, the man entrusted with prolonging Kalba's stay in the Pro League, is confident he can score the goals to save his new side from relegation.

The Zimbabwean striker has joined the east coast club from Sudan's Al Hilal on a six-month deal, having chosen the UAE ahead of offers from Egyptian giants Al Ahly, as well teams in Africa, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia.

Sadomba was so coveted because of his prolificacy for Hilal, the 29 year old notching 98 times in 90 games since 2009. In that time he was also awarded the Golden Boot in both the African Champions League and the African Confederations.

However, Kalba could represent the stiffest examination of his talents, as Ze Mario's men currently sit 13th in the league, three points above bottom club Dibba Al Fujairah.

"This contract with Kalba is an opportunity for me to prove my abilities in a new place after my successful experience with a number of clubs," said Sadomba, who previously enjoyed spells in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

"I'm really eager to start and hope I can live up to the responsibilities and trust shown by the club and fans.

"I will do my best, along with my teammates, to achieve the dreams of the team and help them stay on in the Pro League."

Hassan Salem Qayedi, the chairman of Kalba's board of directors, added: "Sadomba is a strong addition to the team, especially since the player comes with an impressive CV and a proven track record with different clubs.

"We chose him in consultation with Ze Mario and thankfully we got him to sign the deal despite strong competition from a number of clubs for his signature."
