MUNICH // Rafa Cabrera-Bello of Spain shot a 5-under 67 for a one-stroke lead in the second round of the BMW International Open on Friday.
Cabrera-Bello, who opened with a 65 Thursday for a three-way lead with Lasse Jensen of Denmark and Daniel Gaunt of England, made six birdies and a bogey, leaving him at 12-under 132 halfway through the European Tour event.
Jensen (69) dropped two strokes off the pace while Gaunt (73) fell six behind.
James Morrison of England shot a 66 to move second, ahead of Jensen and Northern Ireland’s Michael Hoey, who shot a 65 including nine birdies for the day’s best round.
Home favorite and 2014 U.S. Open winner Martin Kaymer missed the 2-under par cut by one stroke with four bogeys in a round of 71.
Mark O’Meara withdraws from US Senior Open with foot injury
At Sacramento, California, Mark O’Meara has withdrawn from the US Senior Open because of an injured right foot.
O’Meara shot a 1-under 69 in Thursday’s opening round. He had been scheduled to tee off Friday afternoon.
O’Meara won the British Open and the Masters in 1998 and has 16 victories on the PGA Tour. He was competing in his eighth U.S. Senior Open.
Steve Lowery also withdrew with a back injury. He shot a 70 in the opening round.
Fred Couples, the 1992 Masters champion, pulled out before the tournament because of a back injury.
Bubba Watson extends lead during morning round at Travelers
Bubba Watson shot a 67 to extend his lead to three strokes midway through the second round of the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut. Watson began the day with a two-stroke lead after an opening 62. He made three birdies Friday during a bogey-free round to enter weekend play at 11-under par. He says he was forced to play more conservatively because of the wind.
Scott Brown had six birdies and shot 29 on the back nine after shooting 38 on the front to finish with a 67. He is 8 under for the tournament.
Jason Gore also was three shots back after shooting a 68 Friday, including a 31 on his final nine holes.
