Frankel aims beyond the mile at Juddmonte

Frankel may get its first test beyond a mile as Sir Henry Cecil's three year old was one of 43 entries for the Juddmonte International Stakes in August.

After impressive wins in England's 2000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes, Frankel, left, may be ready to stretch his CV to include a race beyond a mile in the Juddmonte International Stakes.

Superstar colt Frankel could have his first start at beyond a mile in the Juddmonte International Stakes.

Frankel is one of the headline names among 43 entries for the 10-furlong race at York, England in August and could come up against Godolphin's Rewilding who is also in the line-up.

Rewilding was an impressive winner of the Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot last week when he gave the Dubai-based racing operation their 175th Group 1 success.

And Simon Crisford, the Godolphin racing manager, said at the time: "It was a fantastic win for Rewilding. A strong-run 10-furlong race suits him well and a mile and a half is good too."

Frankel, Sir Henry Cecil's three-year-old star, is now undefeated in seven starts, including victories in the English 2000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot on his last two outings.

However, he has yet to race beyond a mile and would be a fascinating contender if he lines up over 10 furlongs on the Knavesmire on August 17.

Frankel is owned by Saudi Arabia's Prince Khalid Abdullah and he also has multiple Group 1 winners in Midday, Workforce and Twice Over among his other possible challengers.

Aidan O'Brien has made his usual strong entry headed by Hardwicke Stakes hero Await The Dawn and the Australian thoroughbred So You Think.

O'Brien has entered a total of 15 horses including St Nicholas Abbey, Zoffany and Misty For Me.

Elsewhere, Lady Of The Desert will miss Newmarket's Darley July Cup after taking longer than expected to recover from an injury problem.

Godolphin's Delegator, who was forced to miss Royal Ascot due to the soft ground, is the favourite for the July 9 contest.

The four-year-old Lady Of The Desert is yet to make her seasonal bow after emerging as a leading candidate for sprint honours when winning the Diadem Stakes at Ascot last year before finishing second in the Prix de l'Abbaye.

Brian Meehan, her trainer, had hoped to run the filly in the Golden Jubilee at Royal Ascot but a splint saw her miss that date and will keep her on the sidelines a little longer still.

"Lady Of The Desert is set to miss the July Cup," Meehan told his website.
