Goalkeeper: Simon Mignolet (Liverpool)

The Belgian ensured Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool debut did not end in defeat with a string of fine saves in the stalemate at Tottenham.

Right-back: Hector Bellerin (Arsenal)

Provided the assist for Aaron Ramsey’s first Arsenal goal of the season and helped his side keep a clean sheet as they won at Watford.

Centre-back: Kurt Zouma (Chelsea)

Kept Rudy Gestede quiet as Chelsea enjoyed a comfortable afternoon as they disposed of Aston Villa to record a much-needed win.

Centre-back: Phil Jones (Manchester United)

Marked his first start of the season by helping snuff out Romelu Lukaku and Everton as United recorded the result of the weekend.

Left-back: Martin Olsson (Norwich)

Created two goals with wonderful crosses from the left flank, even as his team lost an action-packed game at Newcastle.

Right midfield: Georginio Wijnaldum (Newcastle)

The Dutchman ended Newcastle’s wait for a first win of the season in spectacular style with four goals.

Centre midfield: Ander Herrera (Manchester United)

Scored one goal and made another in an outstanding performance as United won at their bogey ground, Goodison Park.

Centre midfield: Raheem Sterling (Manchester City)

Often criticised for his finishing, Sterling provided a fine reply with the first hat-trick of his career as City thrashed Bournemouth.

Left midfield: Manuel Lanzini (West Ham)

The Al Jazira loanee turned a draw at Crystal Palace into a win with a late goal himself, before setting up Dimitri Payet for a still later strike.

Striker: Wilfried Bony (Manchester City)

Doubled his City goal tally in the space of 90 minutes against Bournemouth as the Ivorian struck twice in a rout.

Striker: Jamie Vardy (Leicester City)

The Premier League’s top scorer found the net for a fifth straight game and his brace allowed Leicester to come from 2-0 to take a point at Southampton.
