Manchester United and Chelsea claim top four, Bournemouth and Watford go down: Premier League predictions

There is plenty to play for on the final day of the 2019/20 season

  Arsenal v Watford: Two clubs set to sign off on disappointing seasons. Arsenal will be motivated by the prospect of potentially ending the season in eighth, but the stakes are much higher for 18th-placed Watford. However, goalkeeper Ben Foster has admitted confidence is at “zero” and the drop looks imminent. Prediction: Arsenal 2 Watford 0. AFP

  Burnley v Brighton: One of four games with little on the line. Burnley have been in fine form since the restart while Brighton have done enough to secure safety. A game few outside the clubs’ fanbases will pay much attention to. Prediction: Burnley 1 Brighton 0. PA

  Chelsea v Wolves: Chelsea ran out emphatic 5-2 winners in the reverse fixture and Frank Lampard would bite off his own arm for the same outcome. Both Chelsea and Wolves have been in mixed form, but the Blues should have just enough to claim a vital victory. Prediction: Chelsea 2 Wolves 1. AP

  Crystal Palace v Tottenham: Crystal Palace have been woeful since the restart, losing all seven games. Tottenham, on the other hand, have won their past three and Harry Kane enters this match after two excellent goals against Leicester. Only one winner here. Prediction: Crystal Palace 0 Tottenham 2.   Everton v Bournemouth: Bournemouth are hanging on by their fingernails and nothing short of a win at Everton will keep them in the Premier League. Unfortunately for the Cherries, their five-year spell in the top flight looks set to be over. Prediction: Everton 1 Bournemouth 1. Reuters

  Leicester City v Manchester United: It’s winner takes all at the King Power Stadium. Third-placed United lead Leicester, in fifth, by one point, but their form could not be more contrasting. Leicester have really struggled in recent months while United have surged. Injury problems have not helped the hosts and it looks like their top four bid will end at the final hurdle.   Manchester City v Norwich City: Norwich produced a shock win over City early in the season but there is little chance of that happening again. A routine battering by Pep Guardiola’s side is on the cards against the relegated club. Prediction: Manchester City 5 Norwich 0. Reuters

  Newcastle United v Liverpool: Another of the fixtures with very little on the line. Liverpool will want to end their dominant season in style, while Newcastle players will be forgiven for already being on holiday. Prediction: Newcastle 0 Liverpool 3. EPA

  Southampton v Sheffield United: Liverpool aside, Sheffield United have been the success story of the season. Southampton, meanwhile, have done well to rebound from their early season setbacks. Two satisfying campaigns to end in a satisfying draw. Prediction: Southampton 1 Sheffield United 1. EPA

  West Ham v Aston Villa: Aston Villa climbed out of the drop zone after their surprise win over Arsenal and will be safe as long as Watford lose at Arsenal. They will hope that’s the case, because West Ham are in good form and should have enough to win this. Prediction: West Ham 2 Aston Villa 1. AP

The delayed 2019/20 Premier League season finally reaches its conclusion on Sunday and there is still plenty on the line at both ends of the table.

Manchester United, Chelsea, and Leicester City are all in the hunt for the top four, while Wolves and Tottenham are both competing for sixth and a place in next season's Europa League.

At the bottom end of the standings, Bournemouth, Watford, and Aston Villa are all vying to retain their Premier League status.
