Argentina striker Sergio Aguero will miss Premier League title-chasers Manchester City’s match against Aston Villa on Wednesday because of a groin injury.
“Injuries are just Sergio Aguero,” City manager Manuel Pellegrini told a news conference on Tuesday.
“He couldn’t recover 100 percent from his groin problem, so he’s not in the squad list.
“Maybe he can have a chance for Sunday. We’ll see how he improves during the week to see if he can play on Sunday,” the Chilean added.
“It’s a difficult game because all the teams are under pressure. But I hope that if we play at home as we have so far we can win.”
City will go two points clear of leaders Liverpool, whose title hopes suffered a huge blow when they threw away a 3-0 lead in a 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace on Monday, with one game to play if they beat Villa.
Pellegrini’s men are at home to West Ham on Sunday’s final day of the season, while Liverpool face Newcastle at Anfield.
