The double world champions are in danger of not making it out of the group stages after losing on Thursday

It was a miserable night for Argentina and their superstar forward Lionel Messi on Thursday night as they lost 3-0 to Croatia in their Group D clash.

Fans in Buenos Aires could only react in shock as the double world champions were beaten emphatically to leave their hopes of reaching the knockout stages hanging in the balance.

They play their final game against Nigeria on Tuesday, and if Iceland pick up four points from their remaining two games Jorge Sampaoli's men will be eliminated regardless of what they do against the Africans.
