Edinson Cavani will not get to make an emotional trip to Paris even as he trained with Manchester United for the Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
Cavani signed a two-year contract worth £210,000-per-week ($271,000) on transfer deadline day and was hoping to make his debut in United's opening group game against his former club PSG on Tuesday.
The 33-year-old missed Saturday's 4-1 win at Newcastle after going into quarantine following his arrival in England.
"I am going to experience an exceptional moment, that nobody thought would happen. It will be an incredible thing, beautiful emotions," Cavani had told TF1.
However, he did not make it to the travelling squad for the Champions League clash as he was not deemed fit enough to play after seven months out of action.
"We hope the players won't be away for too long," manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said. "Edinson needs a few more days training before we can maybe think about the weekend [against Chelsea]."
Cavani scored 200 goals in seven years with PSG, but he left the Ligue 1 champions in June, missing their Champions League run.
Harry Maguire, Mason Greenwood, Eric Bailly and Jesse Lingard also miss the trip to the French capital.
