Goalkeeper: Petr Cech (Arsenal)

After a Sunday of outstanding goalkeeping, the Arsenal man’s excellent saves earn him the nod ahead of Jack Butland and David de Gea.

Right-back: Daryl Janmaat (Newcastle United)

Provided the superb cross for what proved a winner by Georginio Wijnaldum as Newcastle beat West Ham 2-1.

Centre-back: Ryan Shawcross (Stoke City)

Stoke’s defensive record with their captain in the team is excellent and he helped shut out Arsenal at the Britannia Stadium.

Centre-back: Mamadou Sakho (Liverpool)

The Frenchman was in commanding form against Manchester United and did not deserve to be on the losing team.

Left-back: Charlie Daniels (Bournemouth)

A quiet success story this season, the attacking left-back made an impact going forward in the 3-0 win over Norwich City.

Right winger: Christian Eriksen (Tottenham Hotspur)

A regular scourge of Sunderland, the Dane scored twice as Tottenham came from behind to beat their opponents 4-1.

Centre midfield: Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea)

Below par this season, the Spaniard looked back to his best with a goal and an assist in the 3-3 draw with Everton.

Centre midfield: James Ward-Prowse (Southampton)

The England Under 21 international doubled his career total of league goals in the first half against West Bromwich Albion.

Left winger: Kevin Mirallas (Everton)

Tormented the Chelsea defence as he scored one goal and combined well with Leighton Baines and Ross Barkley.

Striker: Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)

Scored two goals and passed up the chance of a hat-trick to set up David Silva’s strike in the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Striker: Benik Afobe (Bournemouth)

The newcomer provided the first repayment of the £10 million (Dh52.4m) Bournemouth paid Wolverhampton Wanderers by scoring his first goal.
