Manchester United 0 Arsenal 2

Why? United could go into the game without their entire first-choice defence through injury. United's makeshift backline hands on-form Arsenal the pre-match advantage. Arsene Wenger's side should have plenty of success in the channels between full-back and centre-back and the pace of Arsenal's forwards should cause problems. Victory is likely.

Crystal Palace 1 Manchester City 2

Why? Palace have conceded 10 goals in their past three games, and City have the players to exploit their poor defensive record. Pep Guardiola will be delighted to see that Argentina felt no need to start Sergio Aguero in either of their World Cup qualifiers against Brazil and Colombia, ensuring the Premier League's best striker will be fresh for the trip to Selhurst Park.

Everton 2 Swansea City 0

Why? Everton need a response after the 5-0 thrashing they took at the hand's of Chelsea in the last round of matches. Swansea at home is just about the perfect scenario to bounce back. American manager Bob Bradley is yet to make an impact since taking over four games ago. One point is all his team have managed in that time and they conceded three goals on three occasions. To be fair, he is working with a squad with very little quality and it shows.

Southampton 2 Liverpool 3

Why? Brace yourself for another Liverpool away day thriller. The visitors have given little evidence so far this season that they can keep things tight at the back but, at the moment, it matters little as they are scoring at will. Southampton have only 12 goals so far this season, but should push Liverpool all the way.

Stoke City 1 Bournemouth 0

Why? Stoke have put together a six-match unbeaten run and have recovered from a dodgy start to the season. It looks like Bournemouth's 6-1 drubbing of Hull City a few weeks ago was misleading, saying more about how bad Hull are. Eddie Howe's team lack consistency — they haven't put two wins together all season — and are unlikely to take a point from Stoke.

Sunderland 1 Hull City 0

Why? An important game for Sunderland. If Hull were to take victory away from the Stadium of Light, Sunderland would be at least six points from safety with almost a third of the season gone. This won't be pretty, but home advantage and the best goalscorer on the pitch — Jermain Defoe — give Sunderland the edge.

Watford 1 Leicester City 2

Why? Watford's confidence must have taken a battering from conceding six goals at Liverpool last week. They had previously been on a run of four wins in seven games but the visit of Leicester will cause them problems. Claudio Ranieri's side need to get back to the performances that led them to the title last season. A counter-attacking away win would be a good start.

Tottenham Hotspur 3 West Ham United 1

Why? West Ham could be in real bother this season. Aside from Dimitri Payet and Michael Antonio, they don't have a player in decent form and their defence has been leaking goals. Tottenham, with Harry Kane ready to roll, will delight in getting one over their London rivals.

Middlesbrough 0 Chelsea 1

Why? Expect Chelsea's winning run to extend to six games but with less of the swagger of previous performances. Middlesbrough did a good job limiting Manchester City to one goal at the Etihad Stadium in the last round and will be tough to break down. It wouldn't be surprising if Eden Hazard is the man who makes the breakthrough.

West Bromwich Albion 1 Burnley 0

Why? Not the most exciting of Monday night games, but one in which Tony Pulis's tactics should come into their own. Burnley won't create many chances and it would be surprising if they scored. A set-piece goal and a tight home win is on the cards.
