Antonio Conte has described Chelsea's performance in the 4-1 defeat at Watford on Monday as "totally negative".

The Italian's position as head coach is under severe scrutiny after the loss, which followed on from a 3-0 reverse at home to Bournemouth in the Blues' previous league game.

The west Londoners have won only two of their last 10 matches in all competitions and Conte said ahead of next Monday's match against West Brom: "I think against Watford it was a really bad game but it can happen.

"I think every single player knows very well our result and we need to improve."

Conte added: "The performance (against Watford) was negative from the start and we didn't create the chances to score.

"I think that the coach has to understand and try to find the best solution to avoid this type of situation. I didn't like the Watford performance."

Conte confirmed that Spanish striker Alvaro Morata would not feature against the Baggies due to injury.
