AL AIN // An injury-time goal from Hassan Amin clinched the last semi-final spot in the Etisalat Cup for Al Wahda, the Pro League champions last night

The second-half substitute's powerful shot deflected into the back of the net off Dawood Sulaiman, the goalkeeper, to give Wahda a 1-0 victory over Al Ain at the Tahnoun bin Mohammed stadium.

Wahda, who took their tally to 17 points to qualify behind Al Ain from Group A, went into the game needing a win and they clinched it in the last move of the three minutes of injury time.

Al Wasl and Al Shabab have already qualified from Group B, but they meet Sharjah and Al Jazira respectively tonight to decide who will top the group.

Watched from the stands by Al Ain's new mid-season signing Milovan Merosevic, it was the home team's first defeat in four Etisalat Cup matches under Alexandre Gallo, the Brazilian.

Merosevic replaced Jose Sand, the Pro League's top scorer last season with 24 goals and leading the scoring charts again for the club with seven. The Argentine forward has decided to quit with six months left on his two-year contract. Merosevic completed a medical yesterday morning and will sign a one-and-a-half year contract with Al Ain.

In last night's other game, Al Nasr came from a goal down to beat Baniyas 2-1. Andre Senghor had given the home side a 13th -minute lead before Khalid Ibrahim and Ismael Bangoura sealed the first win in two games for the Dubai club's new coach Walter Zenga.
