Al Ittihad striker Aleksandar Prijovic was sentenced to three months of home detention for refusing to obey a curfew imposed in Serbia aimed at restricting the spread of the coronavirus.
The Serb, 29, pleaded guilty on Saturday at a trial by video link in Belgrade. Police had arrested Prijovic and 19 others on Friday for gathering in a hotel in the capital and thus defying the country’s 5pm-to-5am lockdown orders.
Prijovic is the second Serbian player to be caught contravening stay-at-home measures after Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic flouted the state of emergency decree last month by attending his girlfriend's birthday party at a Belgrade cafe. Those who contravene the restrictive measures could face up to three years in jail.
Prijovic, who joined Ittihad in January last year, has made 10 Saudi Pro league appearances this season, scoring once.
