Spain and Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has spoken out about the "intolerable" Islamophobic chanting heard during his side's friendly against Egypt on Tuesday night.
Spanish police launched an investigation over toxic chants during the friendly which also drew criticism from players, football officials and the Spanish government.
The incident took place at the RCDE Stadium near Barcelona, the home ground of La Liga club Espanyol.
Barcelona winger Yamal appeared visibly upset by the chanting in his home city.
The Spanish football federation (RFEF) condemned the acts.
Yamal posted on Instagram, calling out the use of derogatory football chant by some sections of the crowd.
"I know I was playing for the rival team and it wasn't something personal against me, but as a Muslim person it doesn't stop being disrespectful and something intolerable.
"I understand not all fans are like this, but to those who sing these things, using a religion as a mockery on the field makes you ignorant and racist people.

"Football is to be enjoyed and encouraged, not to disrespect people for who they are or what they believe in.
"With that being said, thank you to the people who came to cheer us on, see you at the World Cup."
Spain coach Luis de la Fuente said that the racist behaviour of fans was deplorable.
"They are not representative of football. They take advantage of football, as they do in other areas of life. We need to isolate these people from society," he said.
The Spanish Football Federation said in a message on social media that it "stands against racism in football and condemns any act of violence inside stadiums".
The match was played under Fifa's jurisdiction. World football's governing body will await reports from officials in attendance before deciding whether to take further action.
