Gabriel Jesus laid on a superb assist and then scored a wonderful goal to inspire his side to a gritty 2-1 victory over Sevilla on Tuesday night.

After a surprise 2-1 defeat to Lens in their previous Champions League game, the Gunners collected a much-needed three points - but not until after a serious test of their mettle in Andalusia.

Gabriel Martinelli showed his electric pace to give the visitors the lead by marking his Champions League debut with a goal, bursting on to Jesus' brilliant through ball to round the goalkeeper in the dying moments of the first half.

Jesus then doubled Arsenal's tally early in the second half with an unstoppable strike into the far top corner.

Sevilla got back into the game when Nemanja Gudelj headed in Ivan Rakitic's perfect corner.

Arsenal had to withstand some heavy pressure late on as the hosts searched for an equaliser, and keeper David Raya endured some jittery moments, including one botched attempt to punch clear.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta said of match-winner Jesus, who left the match early with a suspected hamstring injury: "You need magic moments in big games and big players to step in and create those moments, today he has done something special."

Tips for job-seekers
  • Do not submit your application through the Easy Apply button on LinkedIn. Employers receive between 600 and 800 replies for each job advert on the platform. If you are the right fit for a job, connect to a relevant person in the company on LinkedIn and send them a direct message.
  • Make sure you are an exact fit for the job advertised. If you are an HR manager with five years’ experience in retail and the job requires a similar candidate with five years’ experience in consumer, you should apply. But if you have no experience in HR, do not apply for the job.
