LEEDS // Marcus North firmly believes Australia are ready to retain the Ashes following their crushing victory over England at Headingley.
The talented batsman, whose effort of 110 fired the tourists to an innings and 80-run win in the fourth Test, is already focusing on ending the summer on a high by lifting the precious old urn at The Oval.
North, 30, has excelled since arriving in England, scoring two centuries and a wonderful 96 to cement his place in Ricky Ponting's side.
While England's middle order has looked woefully short of both runs and quality, North's ability to create long-lasting partnerships with Michael Clarke has been crucial to Australia's success.
His innings of 96 at Edgbaston, which helped Australia to hold on for a draw, proved the turning point for the tourists - a fact which is not lost on North.
"The England team went out there on the final day at Edgbaston and firmly believed that they were going to win.
"But we took a lot out of that and a lot of fight and we started very strongly at Headingley.
"We need to take the momentum from the last two Tests over the next 10 days to recover and prepare well for The Oval.
"There's not a member of our squad that isn't looking forward to that Test."

Defining head lice
Pediculus humanus capitis are tiny wingless insects that feed on blood from the human scalp. The adult head louse is up to 3mm long, has six legs, and is tan to greyish-white in colour. The female lives up to four weeks and, once mature, can lay up to 10 eggs per day. These tiny nits firmly attach to the base of the hair shaft, get incubated by body heat and hatch in eight days or so.
Identifying lice
Lice can be identified by itching or a tickling sensation of something moving within the hair. One can confirm that a person has lice by looking closely through the hair and scalp for nits, nymphs or lice. Head lice are most frequently located behind the ears and near the neckline.
Treating lice at home
Head lice must be treated as soon as they are spotted. Start by checking everyone in the family for them, then follow these steps. Remove and wash all clothing and bedding with hot water. Apply medicine according to the label instructions. If some live lice are still found eight to 12 hours after treatment, but are moving more slowly than before, do not re-treat. Comb dead and remaining live lice out of the hair using a fine-toothed comb.
After the initial treatment, check for, comb and remove nits and lice from hair every two to three days. Soak combs and brushes in hot water for 10 minutes.Vacuum the floor and furniture, particularly where the infested person sat or lay.
