The Emirates American Football League (EAFL) begins its third season at Dubai Sports City on Friday.

The EAFL, founded by Dustin Cherniawski in 2011, has seen the Abu Dhabi Wildcats win both Desert Bowl titles so far, including a memorable rain-soaked affair at Desert Bowl II in March.

The champions open up against the Al Ain Desert Foxes at 5pm, with the inter-city Dubai Barracudas v Dubai Stallions game following at 7.30pm.

“This is season number three for us and we are really excited to get out there and see how the new guys play and knock off the rest,” said Barracudas coach Kyle Jordan. “We want to play somebody else than ourselves because at this point we have done some scrimmaging, but you never can tell until we go live. We are looking forward for the games on Friday.”

Barracudas centre and linebacker Alex Rodriguez is similarly rearing to go.

“I feel really good. Defensively we have a lot of returnees from last year and we have had some good shots at our pre-season practice. This is our first game and we’ll be looking to a good team effort,” he said.

See more of what the Barracudas have to say in the EAFL's video below, and catch out what the Stallions are saying pre-season here.
