Just a single point separates the two main title contenders in Class 2 of the NGK Racing Series ahead of the final two races of the 16-round championship.
Adding more spice to an already tense finale is the fact that the last two races, on Friday at Dubai Autodrome's Club Circuit, will be worth double value, meaning 80 points are on the line.
Alexandros Annivas tops the Class 2 standings with 224 points, one point ahead of arch-rival Ramzi Moutran.
A third driver has an outside chance of the title, too. Rupesh Channake started the season with six wins in a row, but five successive rounds of not scoring points hurt his campaign. He lies third with 182 points. Annivas and Moutran are also the main contenders for top prize in the Clio Cup - a championship within a championship for Renault Clio drivers. Annivas leads the title chase by a mere six points.
Costas Papantonies has already wrapped up the Class 1 title.
Also to be decided today is the Motorcity UAE Sportbike Championship.
Reigning champion Mahmoud Tannir and last year's Rookie Cup winner, Surya Raja, will square off to determine the 2012/13 UAE champion.
Despite a 14-round season, the 600 Class championship and the Rookie Cup have both gone down to the last day.
This year's championship battle was very different to last year's walkover by Tannir.
He goes into the final day with a 14-point lead over Raja, with a maximum of 50 points available on the day. A non-finish in the last round was a setback to Raja's title ambitions, but the youngster is determined to bounce back.
Raja said after the last round, "It is a blow that we have lost the championship lead.
'We have a mountain to climb on the last race day, but we are up for the task, and as they say, anything can happen in racing."
In the Rookie Cup, Dominik von Poelnitz, Colin Hindes and outsider Neil Hawke all have a chance at the title.
