Angelo Mathews guided Sri Lanka to a thrilling three-wicket win in the second one-day international against India in Nagpur yesterday to level the five-match series 1-1. All-rounder Mathews scored an unbeaten 37 as the tourists reached the 302-run target set by India with just five balls to spare. The real hero of the match, though, was their opening batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan who scored 123 - his second century in as many 50-over matches - to set the tempo for Kumar Sangakkara's men.
Earlier in the day, captain MS Dhoni struck his sixth ODI century to guide India to 301 for seven. Dhoni, who scored 72 in the opening match which India won by three runs, hit 107 and shared in a 126-run fifth-wicket stand with Suresh Raina (68) to help the hosts recover after a shaky start. The third one-dayer will be played in the eastern Indian city of Cuttack on Monday. Meanwhile in Perth, it was a third day of dramatic collapses in the third Test with Australia slumping to 137 for eight in their second innings after bowling West Indies out for 312 to set up the game for either side to win at the Waca today.
The Windies looked out of the game when dismissed just after lunch, 208 behind Australia. But Sulieman Benn (two for 26), Dwayne Bravo (three for 34) and Kemar Roach (one for 18) bowled them back into the match with Australia losing seven wickets for 68 runs to establish a lead of 345 at stumps. The West Indies came into day three on 214 for two in reply to Australia's 520 for seven declared and had made progress to be 280 for four at lunch. But that was when the drama began. The Windies lost six for 32 after the first interval to miss the follow-on target. The tourists lost their last four wickets for just two runs off 10 balls.Australia lead the series 1-0.
