Virender Sehwag hits fifty as retired legends bat for road safety in Mumbai - in pics

Former India opener Virender Sehwag scored an unbeaten fifty to guide 'India Legends' to victory over 'West Indies Legends' in the opening match of the Road Safety World Series in Mumbai on Saturday.

A number of all-time greats are currently in Mumbai to participate in the series which aims to raise awareness about road safety. The tournament is being organised by the Road Safety Cell of the western Indian state of Maharashtra.

In all, 11 matches will be played in the T20 tournament that features retired greats from India, Australia, Sri Lanka, West Indies and South Africa.

Apart from Sehwag, former players like Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, Brian Lara, Brett Lee, Jonty Rhodes, Muttiah Muralitharan and Tillakaratne Dilshan will be seen in action during the tournament.

On Saturday night, West Indies legends batted first and posted 150-8 in their 20 overs. Left-arm pacer Zaheer Khan picked up 2-30 while World Cup winner Munaf Patel took 2-24. For the Windies, Shivnarine Chanderpaul scored 61.

In reply, Sehwag and Tendulkar added 83 for the opening wicket, something fans had gotten used to during their playing days. After Tendulkar departed for 36, Sehwag finished off the chase by remaining unbeaten on 74 from 57 balls with 11 boundaries.
