RAJASTHAN ROYALS RATINGS: Robin Uthappa – 7. Under pressure after replacing Buttler at the top of the order, but he thrived. Four fours in an over off the thrifty Sundar, and 41 from 22 in all. Sportzpics for BCCI

Ben Stokes – 5. Strangled down the leg-side off Morris, but he had struggled for rhythm till that point, making 15 off 19 balls. Sportzpics for BCCI

Sanju Samson – 4. This was his tournament in microcosm. Started spectacularly, with a 94m six, only to tail off straight away. Out to a terrible shot a ball after Uthappa was out. Sportzpics for BCCI

Steve Smith – 8. Back to his best after five single-figure scores in the space of six innings. His 57 off 36 was just what his side needed. Sportzpics for BCCI

Jos Buttler – 5. Shuffled down the order to accommodate Uthappa at the top, and struggled to readjust to his old role, making 24 off 25. Sportzpics for BCCI

Rahul Tewatia – 7. Started the tournament as a nonentity. Now he is one of the most watchable players in it. His 11-ball 19 not out was full of fun, he bowled OK, and held a brilliant boundary catch. Sportzpics for BCCI

Jofra Archer – 5. He was left with too much to do at the end, but he was none too incisive at the start himself, either. Comical use of DRS review, too: his lbw dismissal was hitting the base of middle stump. Sportzpics for BCCI

Riyan Parag – 5. No chance to reprise his recent heroics as he did not get to the wicket to bat. Sportzpics for BCCI

Kartik Tyagi – 8. Showed maturity beyond his 19 years. Particularly when bowling the 18th over for just 10, including a fluky four by De Villiers. Sportzpics for BCCI

Shreyas Gopal – 7. Seemed to be regarded as De Villiers’ kryptonite, based on past form. He did not get him this time, but his returns were good otherwise. Sportzpics for BCCI

Jaydev Unadkat – 3. It was all going fairly well, until he was handed the ball for the penultimate over of the match. That went for 25, and the game was gone. Sportzpics for BCCI

ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE RATINGS: Devdutt Padikkal – 5. It looked like his struggles in making 35 off 37 might have cost his side – but De Villiers meant it counted for nothing. Sportzpics for BCCI

Aaron Finch – 6. Signalled his intention with a 100m six off Archer, only to lob up a catch off Gopal’s friendly leg-spin off the next over. Sportzpics for BCCI

Virat Kohli – 7. Made a significant contribution with the bat for the sixth game running, as he hit 43 from 32 in the run chase. Sportzpics for BCCI

AB de Villiers – 9.5. “I’ve got goosebumps,” Danny Morrison said of the finish De Villiers scripted. All in a day’s work for RCB’s superman. Sportzpics for BCCI

Gurkeerat Singh – 7. He might have looked nervy during the final throes, but he was a good foil for De Villiers as he made 19 off 17 balls. Sportzpics for BCCI

Washington Sundar – 5. Conceding 25 from three overs represented a blowout by his lofty standards, as he was taken to by Uthappa. Sportzpics for BCCI

Chris Morris – 8. He was both lucky – strangling Stokes down legside, and with the boundary catch of Smith – and brilliant, as he took four for 24. Sportzpics for BCCI

Isuru Udana – 5. Had such an off day with the ball that his captain Kohli was angrily shaking his head at him by the end. Sportzpics for BCCI

Navdeep Saini – 6. No inroads in terms of wickets, but the concession of 30 runs from his four overs was not too bad. Sportzpics for BCCI

Shahbaz Ahmed – 7. Two overs for 18 was nondescript, but his diving boundary catch to dismiss Smith in the last over was spectacular. Sportzpics for BCCI

Yuzvendra Chahal – 6. His usual excellence was bookended by a 94m six off his first ball, then 19 runs – including two no balls – off his last over. Sportzpics for BCCI

South African great AB de Villiers had a match to remember as he almost single-handedly took Royal Challengers Bangalore to a seven-wicket win in Dubai on Saturday.

Chasing Rajasthan Royals' total of 177-6, significant but time-consuming knocks from Devdutt Padikkal (35 from 37 balls) and Virat Kohli (43 off 32) meant Bangalore were well behind the required rate.

But De Villiers turned things around in a matter of minutes, smashing three successive sixes in the penultimate over from Jaydev Unadkat when the team needed 35 from 12 balls. He finished the game with a six off Jofra Archer in the final over, remaining unbeaten on 55 from 22 balls.
