Manchester City will continue their attempts to sign their top two transfer targets - the forwards Samuel Eto'o and Carlos Tevez - the football club's manager, Mark Hughes, said yesterday. The English Premier League club, owned by Sheikh Mansour, have made an approach to Barcelona for their Cameroon striker Eto'o, and also offered a contract to Tevez, the Argentina international whose loan spell at their arch-rivals Manchester United ended on Tuesday.
"We have put an offer in for Samuel, but the situation between the player and his club needs to be resolved," Hughes said. "He's a player I've got huge regard for, and my feeling is he's the right type to help us in our ambitions," the manager added. "He's a world star, European Cup winner and a guy who regularly scores 20 to 30 goals a year. "With those types of players you know exactly what you are going to get: quality, a winner's mentality and a player who is going to get people out of their seats.
"If we can bring a player of the quality of Samuel Eto'o to the club, then that will certainly help our cause." Tevez is also considering an offer from Chelsea and an unnamed club, but Hughes said City were strong contenders. "We just have to sit back and see what develops; patience is a word that has been mentioned, and we may need some of it," he added. akhan@thenational.ae

Sheer grandeur
The Owo building is 14 storeys high, seven of which are below ground, with the 30,000 square feet of amenities located subterranean, including a 16-seat private cinema, seven lounges, a gym, games room, treatment suites and bicycle storage.
A clear distinction between the residences and the Raffles hotel with the amenities operated separately.
