Matt Cassel threw three touchdown passes, two of which were to Randy Moss, to lead the New England Patriots to a crushing 41-7 win over the Denver Broncos on Monday.
The Patriots, who lost quarterback Tom Brady to a season-ending injury in the first quarter of the opening game of the campaign, turned in one of their best performances of the year.
After a perfect 16-0 regular season in 2007, the Patriots had stumbled under Cassel's direction, scoring more than 20 points only once in their first five games.
However, Cassel completed 18 of 24 passes for 185 yards and his three touchdown passes matched his total from the first five games.
"The more that you run this offence, the more comfortable you become," Cassel said. "If we keep moving the ball like we did tonight, we are only going to get better each and every week."
Sammy Morris rushed for 138 yards to spark New England's 275- yard rushing performance against the beleaguered Denver defence.
The Broncos never recovered after falling behind 20-0 at the half on the way to their second straight loss. They trailed 34-0 before quarterback Jay Cutler hit Daniel Graham on a 10-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter for their only points.
Moss had five catches for 69 yards as well as his two touchdown receptions.

Expo 2020 Dubai will be the first World Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia
