Anquan Boldin, the Arizona Cardinals wide receiver, will miss today's game against the Buffalo Bills after undergoing surgery to repair a sinus fracture. Boldin underwent the procedure on Thursday, the day of his 28th birthday. It is uncertain if Boldin will be able to return for next week's game against the Dallas Cowboys. In Boldin's absence, Steve Breaston is expected to see increased playing time.
Boldin suffered the injury as a result of the jarring hits he received from New York Jets safeties Kerry Rhodes and Eric Smith late in last Sunday's game. Smith was suspended one game for what the NFL called a flagrant violation of player safety rules. His helmet-to-helmet hit with 27 seconds remaining in the Jets' 56-35 victory knocked out Boldin. Meanwhile, the Green Bay Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, threw lightly on Friday and a late decision will be made on his fitness for today's contest against the Atlanta Falcons.
Rodgers is still ailing from a sprained shoulder suffered during last weekend's 30-21 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. "He feels good. His rehab has been positive," the Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy said. "Hopefully he feels good tomorrow." * Agencies
