Roy Hodgson, the Liverpool manager, has no qualms about bringing back his big names for tonight's Europa League third qualifying round second-leg tie against Rabotnicki.
Despite holding a 2-0 lead from last week's match in Macedonia the likes of Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and new signing Joe Cole are likely to be involved having made their first pre-season appearances in a friendly against Borussia Monchengladbach at the weekend. Maxi Rodriguez, the Argentina international, could even be in the squad despite having returned from his post-World Cup break only 10 days ago.
Javier Mascherano, the wantaway midfielder, will not be selected as he was not registered for the early stages of the competition, whereas Hodgson admits they took a chance on the England contingent and Rodriguez being ready.
Fernando Torres and Jose Reina, the Spanish World Cup winning pair, and Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel, the Holland duo, will not be considered as they only returned to training on Monday.
"I will put out the strongest team it is possible to put out," said Hodgson. "We are stronger on paper than we were in the first game because players that I did not consider using have now played at least 45 minutes on Sunday.
"That gives me a chance to throw them into the game. There are a few that are just back after their holidays and we won't be risking them, of course.
"But we will have a stronger squad than the one we took to Skopje.
"If they are senior players and they have been training with us for the last week or so since we got back and the medical people are confident we can use them without prejudicing their future we will use them."
Zoran Stratev, the Rabotnicki coach, is already resigned to his team's fate, acknowledging they cannot even dream of competing with the likes of the five-time European champions.
"Macedonian football is at this level and I don't think we can do any more - but our fans may hope for something special in the match," he said.
Hodgson's powers of persuasion were enough to convince Torres that his future is at Anfield but the former Fulham manager admits he may be powerless to prevent Mascherano from leaving.
"I think it will be slightly more difficult to persuade Javier to stay if a big offer comes in from a club he wants to go to." Hodgson said.

Who are the Sacklers?
The Sackler family is a transatlantic dynasty that owns Purdue Pharma, which manufactures and markets OxyContin, one of the drugs at the centre of America's opioids crisis. The family is well known for their generous philanthropy towards the world's top cultural institutions, including Guggenheim Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, Tate in Britain, Yale University and the Serpentine Gallery, to name a few. Two branches of the family control Purdue Pharma.
Isaac Sackler and Sophie Greenberg were Jewish immigrants who arrived in New York before the First World War. They had three sons. The first, Arthur, died before OxyContin was invented. The second, Mortimer, who died aged 93 in 2010, was a former chief executive of Purdue Pharma. The third, Raymond, died aged 97 in 2017 and was also a former chief executive of Purdue Pharma.
It was Arthur, a psychiatrist and pharmaceutical marketeer, who started the family business dynasty. He and his brothers bought a small company called Purdue Frederick; among their first products were laxatives and prescription earwax remover.
Arthur's branch of the family has not been involved in Purdue for many years and his daughter, Elizabeth, has spoken out against it, saying the company's role in America's drugs crisis is "morally abhorrent".
The lawsuits that were brought by the attorneys general of New York and Massachussetts named eight Sacklers. This includes Kathe, Mortimer, Richard, Jonathan and Ilene Sackler Lefcourt, who are all the children of either Mortimer or Raymond. Then there's Theresa Sackler, who is Mortimer senior's widow; Beverly, Raymond's widow; and David Sackler, Raymond's grandson.
Members of the Sackler family are rarely seen in public.

Two-step truce
The UN-brokered ceasefire deal for Hodeidah will be implemented in two stages, with the first to be completed before the New Year begins, according to the Arab Coalition supporting the Yemeni government.
By midnight on December 31, the Houthi rebels will have to withdraw from the ports of Hodeidah, Ras Issa and Al Saqef, coalition officials told The National.
The second stage will be the complete withdrawal of all pro-government forces and rebels from Hodeidah city, to be completed by midnight on January 7.
The process is to be overseen by a Redeployment Co-ordination Committee (RCC) comprising UN monitors and representatives of the government and the rebels.
The agreement also calls the deployment of UN-supervised neutral forces in the city and the establishment of humanitarian corridors to ensure distribution of aid across the country.
