Carlos Munoz, the Chile international, will arrive on Saturday for a medical before completing his move to Baniyas, the club announced Wednesday.
The 24-year-old Colo-Colo forward was an early target of Baniyas but a deal on a three-year contract broke down after the Chilean club reportedly increased their asking price from US$4 million (Dh14.7m) to $5m, prompting Baniyas to pursue other options.
The complication was believed to have arisen from a clause in Munoz's contract that stipulates his previous club, Santiago Wanderers, receive 50 per cent of any sell-on fee.
"Everything is now clear for Munoz to become a Baniyas player," the club spokesperson Khaled Al Junaibi said. "Munoz certainly will be a real value to the club. He arrives at the club with an excellent track record."
Meanwhile, Mohammed Ghuloom, the Baniyas goalkeeper, has crossed over to Al Dhafra on a one-year deal.
