Ahmed Al Musharrekh, the UAE's top-rated amateur golfer, hopes to make the most of his home advantage when he makes his Mena Tour bow in the Sheikh Maktoum Dubai Open on Monday.
Al Musharrekh holds the course record for an amateur, a 67, on the Al Badia Course. He and fellow Emirati team member, Khalid Yousuf, were unable to participate in the first two Mena events because of a schedule that included the Asian Amateur Championship in Singapore.
"I am striking the ball well and have every reason to feel good about my game," said Al Musharrekh, who finished 24th in Singapore. "I have heard a lot of good things about the tour, so I'm looking forward to playing at Al Badia Club, which is a superb course."
Yousuf is aiming to improve his game at a venue he knows well, said: "I just need to cut out the silly mistakes, and I'll see my scores come down."
Zane Scotland and Ross Canavan, the winners of the first two tour events, are also in the field of 80. Canavan, who won the Ras Al Khaimah Classic last week and leads the Order of Merit for professionals, said: "If I can hole putts and keep the momentum rolling all the way through, I can expect another good week."

Dr Amal Khalid Alias revealed a recent case of a woman with daughters, who specifically wanted a boy.
A semen analysis of the father showed abnormal sperm so the couple required IVF.
Out of 21 eggs collected, six were unused leaving 15 suitable for IVF.
A specific procedure was used, called intracytoplasmic sperm injection where a single sperm cell is inserted into the egg.
On day three of the process, 14 embryos were biopsied for gender selection.
The next day, a pre-implantation genetic report revealed four normal male embryos, three female and seven abnormal samples.
Day five of the treatment saw two male embryos transferred to the patient.
The woman recorded a positive pregnancy test two weeks later.
