Amir Khan’s team has dismissed reports that the Bolton fighter has pulled out of his potential December fight against Devon Alexander in order to face Floyd Mayweather.
Khan is set to face Alexander for the IBF welterweight world title on December 7 with only the venue to be decided, but reports emerged on Tuesday night suggesting that Khan was to scrap that bout in favour of a more lucrative match-up against the undefeated Mayweather.
Team Khan has moved swiftly to dismiss them, however, insisting that the 26-year-old is fully focused on taking on Alexander before the end of the year.
“Team Khan would like to dispel recent reports that Amir Khan has pulled out of a potential match-up against Devon Alexander on December 7th, taking up a fight against Floyd Mayweather in May of next year instead,” read a statement.
“Contrary to this story, Amir Khan is currently in training camp in San Francisco with the aim of fighting again in December against Alexander once an agreement can be reached.”
Tuesday night’s reports had suggested that Khan would shun the Alexander fight, set for New York or Dubai, and instead go straight into a fight against Mayweather in Las Vegas on May 3.

Identity theft: Someone illegally obtains your confidential information, through various ways, such as theft of your wallet, bank and utility bill statements, computer intrusion and social networks.
Prize scams: Fraudsters claiming to be authorised representatives from well-known organisations (such as Etisalat, du, Dubai Shopping Festival, Expo2020, Lulu Hypermarket etc) contact victims to tell them they have won a cash prize and request them to share confidential banking details to transfer the prize money.
