Al Wahda have appointed former Al Hilal captain Sami Al Jaber as their new head coach following the dismissal of Jose Pesieiro.
The Abu Dhabi side, who dismissed Portuguese coach Peseiro after a 2-2 draw with Emirates Club on Sunday, have moved quickly to find a replacement.
Al Jaber arrives at Al Wahda having managed his former club Al Hilal - a club where he cemented legendary status as a player after a twenty year career.
The 42-year-old has agreed a deal until the end of the current season, with the possibility of extending until 2016.
“Al Wahda have reached an agreement with Sami Al Jaber to take over first-team duties,” a statement on Al Wahda’s official website read.
“The duration of the contract will be until the end od the current season with the possibility of an extension until next season.
“The club management has full confidence in the coach and would like to thank him for his rapid response.”
Al Jaber’s first game in charge is expected to be Al Wahda’s league tie with Bani Yas on Friday.
