DUBAI // Ajman will have to restart their search for a new coach as Rene Marsiglia is unable to leave France because of health issues.
Marsiglia, who worked with Arabian Gulf League side Dubai in the 2012/13 season, was chosen to lead Ajman after the club decided against giving Abulwahab Abdulqadir another extension.
The Frenchman, 54, had even stepped down from his job at Nimes to take up Ajman's offer for next season, but was eventually forced to turn them down after his doctors refused to give him permission to leave.
According to reports in France, Marsiglia is having treatment for cancer and his doctors are not willing to allow him to leave France as this would disrupt his treatment procedure.
Manuel Cajuda, the former Sharjah manager, had expressed his interest in the Ajman job last week, but the club had apologised to him at the time, saying they had already appointed Marsiglia.
Ajman could possibly call Cajuda, but club sources claim they also have a few Tunisian and Moroccan names on their list.
Elsewhere, midfielder Amer Mubarak will return to Al Nasr, the club where he started his career, after failing to clinch a starting spot at Al Ahli since his move across the city in 2011.
Al Shabab have also decided on bringing back Ibrahim Abdullah to their ranks for the coming campaign after sending him out on loan to Al Shaab last season, following recommendations from then coach Marcos Paqueta.
Promoted club Fujairah have added another foreign player to their squad, signing former Ghana international Charles Takyi as they prepare for their first season back in the top flight.
The midfielder, 29, who represented Germany until the age of 18 and has earned three caps with Ghana in his career, will join Ivory Coast striker Boubacar Sanogo and Lebanon's Hassan Maatouk, who is the only foreign player retained by the club.
