UK Athletics and a former sports official have been charged with manslaughter over the death of a Paralympian who was hit on the head by a metal pole during training in 2017.
Abdullah Hayayei, 36, who represented the UAE, was injured at Newham Leisure Centre in East London on July 11, 2017. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hayayei represented the UAE in the F34 class javelin and shot put at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games. He was training for the World Para Athletics Championships at the time of his death.
The UAE has condemned in the strongest terms the publication of a map titled Historic Israel by the Israeli government claiming areas of modern Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.
The map, posted on X by the Israeli Foreign Ministry’s Arabic account, showed the boundaries of the ancient kingdoms of Israel and Judea which extended, according to Biblical accounts, into different areas east of the Jordan River.
