The third Abu Dhabi Tour begins on Thursday in unstable weather conditions. Forecasters expect light showers to return this afternoon and continue into the weekend, with lows of 17°C and highs of 27°C across the country.
But such conditions are unlikely to affect cyclists, of whom many took to the Yas Marina Circuit on Tuesday for their practice session in rainy conditions. Although the expected fog could affect visibility and, in the case of rain, slippery roads mean participants will have to proceed carefully, such weather conditions will add to the exciting challenge of the race. As they say, anyone can spin in the sunshine, but skilled cyclists are made in the rain.
The lack of sunshine will, however, affect beachgoers who seek to enjoy the sun and sand, and those who want to swim in the sea, as waves are expected to be rough. But, for many of us, the unusual weather is a pleasant respite from the long hot summer months.
