Abu Dhabi and Dubai regularly rank among the safest cities in the world. The online crime index Numbeo.com recently declared Abu Dhabi to be the safest city in the world. We decided to ask 3,481 TaskSpotting users for their opinions on crime and overall safety.

TaskSpotting describes itself as the region’s only advocate marketing platform and pitches our questions to its app community who typically engage with brands to create content, spread awareness and share feedback.

Ninety-eight per cent of users answered that they felt safe in the UAE. This remarkable statistic is thanks to the hard work of the authorities around the country who maintain a culture of safety and vigilance.

While users felt safe in the UAE, the majority reported their concern about cyber crime: 74 per cent of users are concerned about phishing. This number should hardly be surprising given the amount of time we all spend online. Moreover, cyber crime is borderless and thus difficult for the authorities to fully stamp out.

Our society is one of the safest in the world. The next step is to increase our vigilance about cyber crime and continue to educate ourselves about dangers online.
