In recent years, efforts have been made to tell the story of this country’s development and rapid rise around the world. Carried on the wings of our national airlines, the UAE story has shown up in places such as the Milan Expo. As The National reported yesterday, a new partnership between Image Nation and the China Intercontinental Communication Center to co-produce films will give the our story an important foothold in Asia.
The partnership hinges on a new international film fund valued at US$300 million (Dh1.1 billion) that will invest in commercial film and television ventures from Hollywood, China and the UAE. This cultural development comes after a year of warming economic cooperation between Abu Dhabi and Beijing.
It is a clear sign that the UAE’s non-oil sectors are pushing forward with new and lasting partnerships with key partners and countries around the world. The language of film is, after all, universal.
