Sheikh Rashid will be missed by all of us

Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's death is terribly sad (Dubai Ruler's eldest son dies aged 33, September 20). May his soul rest in peace.

Taxis should use technology

I fail to understand why so many taxis in Dubai do not use technological devices that can make things easy for everyone.

Taxi drivers may not know every route and destination in Dubai, while passengers are also not always expected to know the routes to their destinations. This is why taxis should have GPS devices.

I noticed that some taxis simply did not have the machine for credit card payment. It was disappointing.

Finally, all taxis must have a speed-locking system. It’s not hard to accommodate these things.

Health care suffers in Delhi

It's both sad and shameful that people continue to succumb to dengue in the Indian capital (Delhi hospitals struggle against dengue deaths, September 17). The response of hospitals to such emergencies is often lackadaisical, which proves that health care in Delhi is in a poor state.

The Delhi government made so many promises to the people in the past, one of which was that it would improve health care. As usual, those promises proved to be hollow.

Blame drivers for accidents

Neither roads nor the weather are responsible for the accidents (Reckless driving and poor roads are cause of increase in accidents, say RAK motorists, September 19). It's the driving culture that's the culprit.

People drive as if they are shooting an action movie. The Government is doing a lot to change this attitude, but it will take a lot of time and effort.

Maryam Al Hersi, Abu Dhabi

There is little doubt that most accidents are caused by reckless and callous drivers. It’s futile to blame them on bad roads or weather.
