Ordinary Palestinians on the West Bank face many restrictions through Israel’s occupation and the burden falls particularly heavily on the young. But despite the restrictions on movement, curfews and constricting violence, young Palestinians continue to demonstrate an enthusiasm for life that defies the political deadlock engulfing them.

As The National reported yesterday, a rock climbing club in the West Bank has added to the fun activities on offer. The ingenuity and energy of young Palestinians is also being channelled by tech incubators in Ramallah and Nablus.

In an environment where it is easy for youth to lose faith in the peace process and resort to violent resistance, the next generation of Palestinians are finding positive ways to expend their youthful energy. Their example should inspire everyone facing seemingly insurmountable challenges.
