It’s ridiculous that a fourth oil spill has hit the east coast of the country in a span of three months (Fresh oil spill blights east coast, May 29). It’s not just taking a toll on marine life, but it’s posing a hazard to human health.
Some serious investigation is needed to find the culprits who are cleaning out the tankers into the sea just to save a few pennies.

Inappropriately timed message
In reference to the article US Muslims upset over Trump’s Ramadan message (May 28), American Muslims should ignore Donald Trump’s message and listen to the Ramadan message of Justin Trudeau, the Canadian prime minister.
Fazal Bangash, Canada
It’s sad that Donald Trump peppered his Ramadan statement with references to acts of terror, even though previous American presidents have used their position to express solidarity with those of different faiths and to highlight shared spiritual values.
Amanda Thompson, Dubai
Terrorism has posed the gravest challenge to humanity. Innocent people are being killed at alarming levels across the world.
So there is no way one can ignore the reference to terrorism, even though Ramadan was not the right occasion to raise this issue.
In fact, Muslims are losing lives and livelihoods to terrorism more than any other community. Unless they are serious about this matter, they will continue to lose.
Mr Trump and the Islamic world leaders of 57 nations are united against radicals and extremist ideology.
Terrorists are spilling blood wherever you look – Egypt, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria. This is unacceptable.

Analysis misses the main point
Your article Principled realism and an emerging Trump doctrine (May 23) misses the point. The president is doing many things his predecessor did, which he mocked, such as talking with Arab nations and donating to women’s causes. Again, it’s not so much about what he is doing or trying to do, as about how he mocked the previous president for doing things.

We must know value of water
Twenty litres of water per person at each wudhu (Change of taps at Abu Dhabi mosques to reduce water consumption and save Dh20m annually, May 23)? I’m gobsmacked.
I’m happy that the problem is being studied. My suggestion is to remove all wudhu rooms from each mosque. That’s because they are the most unhygienic places adjacent to each mosque. These places should be the cleanest.
