Madame Tussauds has been a major crowd puller in London since opening its doors on Baker Street in 1835. In the years since then, the museum has established operations in several European locations as well as in North America, Asia and Australia. As The National’s business section reported, Madame Tussauds is planning to open a branch in Dubai next year.

In our fame-obsessed age it’s not hard to understand why visitors troop to Tussauds locations around the world to “hang out” with celebrities and get up close and personal with them. But the tantalising question that begs asking is what figures you would want to see represented at a wax museum in the Middle East?

As some have noted on social media, let’s hope the Dubai facility installs good air conditioning units. After all, we wouldn’t want all that wax to melt in our searing summer heat, would we?
