Is your child clamouring for your iPad or threatening to stay hungry if you don’t allow him to play his favourite game on the iPhone? Then the Glee Club might be the answer for you, thanks to Abu Dhabi resident Stephanie Sell, who has introduced her very own version of the popular American musical drama television series Glee.

As The National reported yesterday, the club gives children – aged six to 14 and above – the chance to learn and practise dancing, singing and acting while working towards performances of well-known pop and musical theatre songs.

The performing arts can be a profound and important part of a child’s education. Research shows that taking part in this field is an effective way for children to improve their communication skills, academic performance, concentration, critical faculties, verbal skills and confidence.

Scientists also think that the pleasures and stimulation from the performing arts do more than brightening our life – they help connect us more deeply to the world and enable us to see things in new ways.

Therefore, the impact of a cultural education is lifelong as it adds enjoyment, depth and meaning to both personal lives and professional work as adults. Not everyone is lucky to have the opportunity. So why not grab this one when it’s available?
