Get rid of rubbish

Far too many people think nothing about littering. Otherwise law-abiding individuals sometimes don’t hesitate to toss bottles and food wrappers from their car or leave waste at camp sites. Anecdotal evidence suggests the problem is getting worse.

As The National reported, during the 14th Clean Up UAE drive this week hundreds of volunteers collected two tonnes of rubbish from Al Jazeera Al Hamra in Ras Al Khaimah. The truth is, when it comes to rubbish, someone will always have to clean it up. Litter is not just unsightly, but it’s harmful to our environment and spreads disease. During rain storms, litter can block the flow of drains and cause flooding, posing danger to motorists.

We can keep our surrounding clean quite easily by disposing rubbish in proper places. Our urban and natural environments are extensions of our home. Keeping our environment clean is in everyone’s best interest.
