Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival begins today, under the theme “Where World Cultures Meet”, bringing a month of festivity to Al Wathba outside the city of Abu Dhabi.
This year’s festival is for everyone. It’s expected to be “bigger and better than ever before”, according to the organisers, and will focus not only on the Founding Father and Emirati heritage but also on the diversity of all residents. The 30-day programme includes cultural and traditional shows, as well as 500 shops selling traditional products from 17 countries and 40 restaurants offering international cuisine.
This comes at a time when citizens and residents get together to celebrate National Day. Cultural diversity is one of the country’s biggest strengths, with people from more than 200 nationalities participating in its development. The coming days will also see many more events and activities across the UAE. It is the time of the year when we are most proud.
