UAE’s success guided by its relentless quest for excellence

On the illustrious occasion of the 48th National Day, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the leadership and to all citizens and residents of our glorious country.

Today, we honour the spirit of the nation as the UAE marks yet another year of monumental success, driven by strong values and principles, diligent work, and a relentless quest for excellence across the board.

We also pay homage to Sheikh Zayed, the Founding Father, whose legacy continues to live until this day. His efforts have made the UAE the global tourism destination – as well as the hub of art and culture, science and technology, business and innovation – that it is today.

On National Day, Pakistan wishes UAE continued progress in future

In less than half a century, the UAE has emerged as a global model for development. The country has transformed itself into a hub for trade, business and innovation – made possible by the far-sighted vision of Sheikh Zayed, the Founding Father, and the next generation of the country’s leadership. Meanwhile in an age of violence and bigotry, the UAE also stands tall as a model of tolerance and coexistence.

The Emirates has been a major development partner for Pakistan as well. I would, in particular, wish to acknowledge the invaluable support Pakistan receives from the UAE in its campaign to eradicate polio, under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

Pakistan and the UAE have a long history of close and friendly relations, strengthened by common values and a commonality of views on regional and international issues.

The 1.6 million Pakistanis living here act as a bridge between the two countries. From factory workers to skilled professionals and from institution builders to entrepreneurs, they have all made an invaluable contribution to the development of the UAE.

On the special occasion of National Day, we join our Emirati brethren as they celebrate the unparalleled achievements made by the UAE and wish them continued progress and prosperity in times to come.

While raising prices of sugary drinks, reduce prices for veggies

I write in reference to your article UAE's expanded 'sin tax' comes in with sugary drinks, vapes and regular cigarettes rising in price (December 1): It is a good decision to increase the price for unhealthy items. But why not reduce the price for healthy items, such as vegetables?
