Some say they wish things in Lebanon would finally change, to bring an end to the political stasis and seeming perpetual state of crisis that has plagued the country for decades.

Thankfully, some things in Lebanon never change, including the timeless voice of Fairouz.

The diva, considered Lebanon’s national treasure, has been working on a new album produced by her daughter Reema Rahbany. Released on June 21, in time for World Music Day, the album features the single Lameen and adapted Arabic versions of classic hits.

Fairouz leaves many Lebanese in awe. Her performances offer a reminder that despite instabilities, for better or for worse, she will keep singing notes of hopefulness to inspire all generations. In her case, at least, we hope Lebanon never changes.
